Why you want that Lambo?

Could it be that IF we REALLY knew WHY we desire WHAT we desire that we DON’T want it anymore?

Could it be that IF we REALLY knew WHY we desire WHAT we desire that we DON’T want it anymore?

Why do you want that Lambo?
Or Chanel bag if you’re a woman.
Or Rolex, Penthouse, or other supercar?

I’m not saying I wouldn’t buy one in the near future.
I’m not here to condemn you for desiring these.
I’m not saying materialism is bad.
I’m not giving my opinion.

I only care about the truth.
So let’s discover WHY.

The vast majority of men desire a sports car, expensive watch or beautiful house.

The vast majority of women desire luxury jewelry, expensive bags, or a beautiful house too.

This is true, right?
But why do we want this?
Is it because they give you status?

That is this invisible thing which makes you feel good about yourself, because others think you are ‘better’ than them…

Is it because you want to SHOW so others can COMPARE and you may feel SUPERIOR?

After all…
You got the lambo.
They don’t.
BUT they want it.

Or is it because you just love driving a fast car…
That you desire it purely for the joy of driving…
Or that you collect it for beauty’s sake?
If so, you think this is ‘better’ right?
That it is better to want something just for your passion, joy or its beauty.

But is it really?
And is this really the reason?
Or is there a fundamental thing happening behind ALL OF IT?

Let’s look at it.
What happens when you see a lambo (or chanel bag)?

You see it.
Thoughts come up.
…let’s take a picture
…who is the owner
…I want one

“I want one”

This is a thought that comes up everytime with all of our desires, isn’t it?

How does this thought arise?

You walk on the street.
Your eyes meet the sharp cornered steel of a black object.
You recognize the way they designed the aerodynamic curves.

Memory comes in.
You see?
You see what’s happening?

Let’s continue…

Memory tells you:
“THIS IS A LAMBORGHINI”

What memory also has been taught is that it is ‘expensive’.
That many other humans just like you, want it too.

But what if you didn’t have memory?
If you didn’t ‘know’ all these things?

That you saw the Lamborghini for the first time…
That you looked at it with new eyes…

What would you see?

Would it look BETTER than the Toyota?
Or just DIFFERENT?

Would you find both beautiful?

If you grew up alone in this world.
Nobody around you.
Nobody taught you anything.

Would you desire the car?
Would your mind still say:

“I want that car one day!”

Or would it just be curious.
Activate you to walk around it with wondering eyes.
Without desire.

For you have realized, none of it belongs to you.
And none of it ever will.

After all…
You grew up in nature.
On your own.
By yourself.
And nature taught you many things.

One of them being that it doesn’t care.
You had seen that nature did not care.

It killed your family.
It killed your prey.

Sometimes branches of the trees just fell down in a split second and killed whatever was beneath it.

Sometimes a storm ruined your food and stopped your fire leaving you cold and starving.

It made you see that nature wasn’t there to do BAD to you. Nor was it trying to do GOOD or make it up when the sun started shining again so you could make fire.

It simply did what it did without a thought.

It made you see that you are part of it.
Simply part of nature.

You did not own the stick you found.
You did not own the fire you made using it.
You did not own the hut you build.

You had seen these thoughts for what they are.

Illusions.

So when you saw that black object of steel.
You did not think about owning it.
For you knew this was an illusion.
So the thought did not arise.

Now the modern man has the added conditioning to see through.

After all…
All you heard around you was people wanting that thing.

With enough money, the vast majority wants the Lamborghini, Rolex, Chanel, or penthouse.

So when you see the modern man sees the car it is followed by an image inside his skull.

This image is created by thought.
And this image may be he himself sitting in the car.
Or he himself driving the car.
Or he himself making pictures with those who see the car.

THIS is the moment desire is born.

What are the consequences of desire?

Well…
What happened whenever you wanted something but couldn’t have it.

Did you feel irritated? Dissatisfied? Frustrated?

Now what do you start to feel if 10 years pass by and you
Still don’t live in that penthouse…
Drive in that car…
Walk with that bag…
Then WHAT.

You would feel more behind.
Maybe angry. Maybe afraid you will never get it.

And all of this comes from thought.

May you find the gap in between your sight and the thought.

The gap between seeing and feeling.
The gap between object and sensation.

May you see the gap.
And stay there forever.
